Sri Palam Silks has unveiled a signature line of wedding sarees called Prakriti Silks for the forthcoming wedding season. Each saree, they tell us is a fusion of the trendy and fashionable, with tradition and heritage. Sri Palam Silks also offers a wide range of catalogue sarees which can be viewed on www.palamsilk.com. Soon to be launched is an online shopping option through the website, with home delivery. At 1st floor, 115, Pondy Bazaar, T Nagar, ph: 24323334.
The silk boutique's annual show focussed on this year's leading silk sari trends, such as custom-designed patterns, tattoo designs, corporate wear and bridal silk. While the predominant shades were purple, green, red, blue and orange, innovative zari work and patterned blouses gave a rather fresh twist to traditional silk colours.
The customised line of silks allows customers to pick and choose various elements of the sari, design their own zari and sari pattern.
The corporate and casual collection showed an array of chic saris, with contemporary designs blending well with the quintessential mango and flower patterns. The casual collection also offered a line of saris to wear on an evening out with the girls. The show's finale, its bridal collection, displayed exquisite gold zari work on south Indian muhurtham colours orange and red, with dashes of purple and green. Actor Lakshmi Rai, the showstopper, wore a rich blue patterned bridal sari, looking every bit demure with coiffed hair and a brilliant smile.
